10G CWDM Dual Fiber End to End WDM Solution (Two Sites)

The 10G CWDM dual fiber solution enables the signals with 18 wavelengths to be transmitted simultaneously, which results in a network capacity boost in metro and access networks. This solution can support up to 180Gbps capacity within 60km single fiber transmission, it is designed primarily to transmit multiple services for a relatively short distance in Data Center Interconnection(DCI) and enterprise network.

FS comprehensive end-to-end WDM transmission solutions support data rate from 1G to 100G and its maximum capacity reaches 9.6T. It covers the backbone network, aggregation, and access network, meeting different network needs of governments, education, finance, power, radio, and television ISP, etc. industries.

We have a pair of 8-channel CWDM MUX needs to be expanded through the EXP port, 8 additional channels will be added. The transmission distance is 7km, and now the module used is 10G 40KM, what others product do I need to choose? By n***a on 07/14/2020

According to the transmission needs, these modules are needed to be used with CWDM MUX DEMUX. The EXP port of 8CH CWDM MUX will be used for the expand of 8CH CWDM MUX. We recommend 10G 40km CWDM SFP+, as for the compatibilidad, it depend on your switches. By C***y on 07/14/2020

What is the maximum range for CWDM, is it not determined by the range of the optics we use? By L***s on 07/13/2020

If the 1310 special port isn't necessary for the CWDM MUX, a maximum of 18 channels of 1270~1610nm can be realized according to the CWDM industry standard. If the 1310 special port is needed, the 1310 transmission wavelength range is 1260~1360nm, and the range of the reflection wavelength is 1380~1620nm, the 1310 special port is closest to the COM port, so the wavelength range of the channel port that can exist on the MUX is 1380~1620nm, including 12 channels from 1390nm to 1610nm. FS will recommend use DWDM MUX if you need 16CH MUX with 1310 special port. By K***l on 07/13/2020

What are their respective advantages and disadvantages of these two solutions: installing the CWDM optical module directly in the switch + CWDM Mux Demux and using CWDM multiplexing + channel multi-rate WDM optical module? By J***y on 07/12/2020

Solution 1: Install CWDM optical module in the switch + CWDM Mux Demux. Advantages: less equipment, simple installation and use, lower cost. Disadvantages: The application with insertion directly of the the long-distance module into the switch consumes slightly more power than the short-distance module. Solution 2: CWDM multiplexing + channel multi-rate WDM optical module. Advantages: There are no restrictions on the selection of client end modules. The FMT chassis can monitor the actual optical power of the modules in the OEO in real time, it can be fed back in time if there is any abnormality. Disadvantages: The use steps are relatively complicated, and it will cost higher. By P***r on 07/12/2020

Why a custom CWDM Mux Demux is needed for 1310nm if the #42972 already includes 1310nm port? By V***s on 07/11/2020

The working wavelength range of the conventional 10G 1310nm LR module is actually 1260~1355nm, and the bandwidth of the CWDM standard wavelength is ±6.5nm, so the 1310nm port on #42972 MUX/DEMUX cannot be connected to the 10G 1310nm LR module; The channel bandwidth of the 1310nm special port is 1260nm~1360nm, so it can be connected with 10G 1310nm LR module for transmission. At the same time, there is a band limitation of the 1310nm special port, MUX/DEMUX needs to be customized with band between 1390nm and 1610nm. By W***l on 07/11/2020
