As far as I know, 40G optics use the 850nm and 1330nm bands, which are not suitable for our long runs. This OEO is a good choice, the 40G signal can be broken out into 4x10G signals, and then the OEO converts them into the corresponding DWDM wavelengths.



This OEO is very suitable for our scenario. We had multiple Dark Fiber connections installed, we needed someone to design DWDM solution, but the main thing I wanted to ensure was ensuring the equipment that this connects to on either end does not require special optics to meet the frequencies that are sued. I.E. all handoffs need to be at single mode 1310. This OEO is able to convert 1310 into WDM wavelength, good enough for my needs.
